Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 1, 2026
FreeConvertKit ("we," "us," or "our") operates free browser-based conversion and editing tools at freeconvertkit.com and related domains. This Privacy Policy explains what information we do — and do not — collect when you use our website and tools.
Our core promise: 100% client-side processing
FreeConvertKit is built around a single privacy principle: your files and text never leave your device. When you convert a PDF, compress an image, transcode a video, or run an AI tool in your browser, processing happens locally using technologies such as:
- WebAssembly (Wasm) — for high-performance media and document processing (e.g. FFmpeg.wasm, PDF libraries).
- Web Workers — to keep the UI responsive while heavy tasks run in the background.
- In-browser JavaScript APIs — for text tools, formatters, generators, and utilities.
- Transformers.js — for on-device AI features; models may be downloaded once to your browser cache, then run offline.
We do not upload your PDFs, images, videos, audio files, or pasted text to our servers for tool processing. We do not store, access, review, or sell your file contents. We have no technical ability to recover what you process — because we never receive it.
Information we do not collect from your files
Because processing is local, we do not collect:
- File names, contents, or metadata from documents you convert or edit
- Images, video frames, or audio you upload into our tools
- Text you paste into summarizers, translators, formatters, or counters
- Output files you generate or download
Limited information our website may process
Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure may automatically log standard technical data when you visit pages — for example IP address, browser type, referring URL, and timestamps. These logs help keep the site secure and diagnose outages. They are not linked to the contents of files you process in our tools, because those contents never reach us.
If you contact us voluntarily (e.g. by email), we receive only what you choose to send. We use that correspondence to respond and do not sell it to third parties.
Local storage on your device
We use browser storage (such as localStorage) strictly for convenience features that stay on your device, including:
- Theme preference (light / dark)
- Language / locale selection
- Cached AI or media engine files after first download (so tools load faster on repeat visits)
You can clear this data anytime through your browser settings. Clearing cache may require re-downloading local processing engines.
Third-party services
We do not embed third-party advertising trackers or sell your data to data brokers. We use Google Analytics 4 for aggregate site traffic measurement; Google processes that telemetry under its own terms. Fonts may be loaded from Google Fonts; your browser requests them directly from Google under their policies. Open-source libraries we bundle run locally — they do not receive your files from us.
Children's privacy
Our services are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has contacted us with personal data, please reach out so we can delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of FreeConvertKit after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
