Cookie Policy
Last updated: September 1, 2026
FreeConvertKit takes a privacy-first approach to cookies and similar technologies. This Cookie Policy explains what we use, what we deliberately avoid, and how you stay in control.
The short version: privacy-first, no ads
We do not use third-party advertising cookies, remarketing pixels, or social-media trackers in our tools. We do not sell cookie-derived profiles. We use Google Analytics 4 only to understand aggregate traffic (page views and similar metrics) — not to follow you across other websites for advertising.
Your conversions, uploads, and pasted text are processed in your browser — not logged by us for profiling. That is not a cookie choice; it is how our architecture works.
What we actually use
1. Strictly necessary / functional storage
Small amounts of data may be stored locally to make the site work the way you expect:
- Language preference — a
NEXT_LOCALEcookie (or equivalent) so we remember your chosen language across pages. - Theme preference — stored in
localStorage(e.g.freeconvertkit-theme) so light/dark mode persists on your device. - Session recovery — occasional technical flags (e.g. one-time reload guards during dev or after cache clears) that never leave your browser.
This storage stays on your device. It is not used to build advertising audiences or cross-site tracking profiles.
2. Aggregate analytics (Google Analytics 4)
We load Google Analytics 4 (G-ZVKL47EB3X) to measure site usage in aggregate (for example, which pages are visited). Google may set or read cookies / identifiers according to its own policies. File contents you convert never leave your browser through this tag.
3. Local processing cache (not tracking)
Some tools download WebAssembly modules, media codecs, or AI models to your browser cache the first time you use them. This is functionally similar to caching static assets: it speeds up repeat visits and enables offline-capable processing. These caches do not send your file contents to us.
What we do not use
- Third-party advertising or retargeting cookies
- Cross-site advertising fingerprints or marketing pixels in conversion workflows
- Social network pixels embedded in our conversion workflows
Third-party fonts
We may load typography from Google Fonts. Your browser requests those files directly from Google; we do not control Google's logging practices. If you prefer, browser extensions or network filters can block font requests — the site will fall back to system fonts.
Managing cookies and local storage
You can control cookies and site data through your browser:
- Clear cookies and site data for our domain
- Block third-party cookies (we rely on few, if any, third-party cookies today)
- Delete
localStorageentries for theme or preferences
Clearing storage resets language/theme choices and may require re-downloading local processing engines. Tool functionality remains available; only convenience settings are lost.
Do Not Track
We do not run advertising or cross-site remarketing trackers. You can still block Analytics via browser settings, extensions, or Google's opt-out tools if you prefer not to be included in aggregate traffic reports.
Updates
If our practices change, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date. Material changes will not turn FreeConvertKit into an ad-tracking product without clear notice.
